INT. WARDROBE ROOM – DAY

Opening on a medium shot of the wardrobe centred against a wall.  Light thin linen curtains blow gently in the wind to the left of the room. Light and dappled shadows from a tree stretch across the wooden floor.  The room is bathed in dull, muted tones—blues and greys.  A distant
radio murmurs from somewhere in the house, reporting on COVID-19 regulations.

RADIO
[A little muffled possibly coming from another room- almost ignorable]
“...regulations remain in place until further notice...”

[A slow zoom starts as if we were slowly walking towards the wardrobe.]

[The radio static flickers then shifts to the strains of a trip-hop jazz piece.]
The camera is distant but still. The wardrobe slightly sways. We are unsure if it is swaying or if it is an effect caused by the shadows of leaves moving across the wardrobe.

[The slow zoom continues]

[Commotion can be heard coming from the hallway]

[The wardrobe is the only thing in focus. Trip-ho jazz music deepens in reverb.]

[The camera continues to zoom]

[Sounds of the door bursting open and running footsteps with heavy out of breath breathing flood the room]

{The wardrobe door is the only thing in the shot now. In a close-up shot; we clearer can  see some patterns of wood burnt and carved into the wardrobe]

[Lucy's dark-brown skin opens the door.  Her siblings’ voices echo faintly from another
room. ]

.

INT. INSIDE THE WARDROBE – CONTINUOUS
[It's dark. With slits of light stretching through from the open wardrobe door. The light is now warmer - a strange change from outside the wardrobe but barely noticeable]

[The outside noise is dramatically cut. The only sound is Lucy’s shallow breathing and the faint creaking of   wood as she manoeuvers against the coats. ]

[The camera follows Lucy's hands feeling the soft fur. We see her as she whips her face and hand on the ]

LUCY
(whispering, to herself)

“All this inside a closet?”

LUCY
(slight smile, with wonder)
“This is queer.”

[Lucy maneuvers further into the wardrobe and is jolted -

  • Digory Kirke used Narnia’s portals as transportation during his 20s in the He then meets writer, Brain Ncube in (then Rhodesia). They are photographed together in a homoerotic embrace. They both flee to Narnia.

  • During this adventure Aslan has Kirke retrieve an apple from a magic tree and brig it to him. The apple was planted and grew into a tree with silver bark also known as The Tree of Protection

  •  Kirke becomes sick(HIV & TB) and Aslan gifts them an apple and a pomegranate and tells them they need to go back to Earth. The apple is meant for Kirke to cure him and the pomegrante is meant for Ncube to prevent him from acquiring the illness. Kirke takes Ncube and him to the Irish countryside where the two men eat the apple & pomegranate and plant the cores/seeds when they acquire the land together.

  • When Ncube dies in the early 2000s, Kirke is distraught and cuts down the trees. And has them commissioned into the wardrobe. The apple being the bulk of the wardrobe and the pomegranate the accents such as the handles. He carved parts of his time with ncube into the tree.
